Hello my name is Steve and you have a problem.  Chances are if you're on this site you have either experienced the pain and suffering of a leaky skylight or you are about to, especially if you install traditional flashing.  

 

Some 13 years ago, my friend, Mike of Georgetown, TX got an idea.  Having experience with flexible coatings that were extremely UV resistant, that could hold up under extreme high or low temperatures he decided to tackle the leaky skylight problem.  Until then, just about everyone used typical metal flashing, stair stepping it up the side of the roof and overlapping the skylight curb.  And for all this time skylights have kept the reputation of being leaky problems; except when The Skylight Boot was installed. 

 

Fast forward 14 years and you come to two amazing facts 1) not a single boot has failed in all that time and 2) yours truly joined in on all the fun.  But after all that time it still amazes us how hard it is to challenge the status quo, because that same old tired, leaky, metal flashing still trudges onward causing homeowners to go gray early and giving sheet rock men, painters, and mold remediators job security.

 

Until this year, everything we did was very custom made.  Exact measurements of length and width and pain staking hours put into each boot was the order of the day.  Although the boot did it's job and stopped every leak over 14+ years without a single failure, I'll be the first to admit it was a little pricey.  Still, everyone loved it and each contractor that used it came back for more, probably because they never had to risk being called back for a re-do.  The Skylight Boot turned a six hour job into 30 minutes for the contractor (and that was the entire job, the boot itself installed in about 15 seconds),  but for reasons too complicated to explain here, it could not be mass produced, until just this year.  

 

Finally, technology has caught up with necessity, and the new economy boot has been rolled out.  We realize that time is money, and we found a way to offer a boot that has about a 10 min installation time and costs the homeowner half the money.  We are now happy to offer the same protection with a boot that takes just a little longer to install, for a much lower cost.

 

This boot is a reliable, quick, fix that you can depend on for the next 20 years.  And if you decide you still want the original custom-made boot which has about a 15 second install time, we can still do that, just let us know.
